SIMCODESS has been the sole proprietor for the promotion of organic cotton of the local variety named Karungani cotton, which was sown on a large scale a few decades ago but gradually lost its prominence and was on the verge of extinction. SIMCODESS made strenuous efforts to gather and sensitize the farmers on the projection of Karungani cotton and motivated them to take up the cultivation on at least a portion of their land. As a result of several years of hard work, the karungani cotton is gradually coming up again.
